Terminal V Edinburgh 2026 — The Complete Guide

Terminal V is Scotland’s flagship electronic music event and one of the most respected techno festivals in the UK. It runs at the Royal Highland Centre just outside Edinburgh city centre — a massive industrial exhibition space that transforms into a multi-room techno event with production values that routinely make jaws drop.

If you’ve never been, the scale surprises people. This isn’t a small underground event. 40,000 people across a single weekend in a venue with eight or nine rooms, with a lineup that pulls names most UK festivals would consider headline-level into mid-bill slots.

The Venue

The Royal Highland Centre is an exhibition hall complex. Terminal V takes over multiple halls simultaneously, building out each room with custom production — immersive lighting rigs, elaborate stage designs, and sound systems that are seriously loud even by festival standards. Bring ear protection without question.

The layout is indoor, which means rain is irrelevant and temperature becomes the variable instead. The rooms get hot. Dress for it.

Getting There

From Edinburgh city centre: The Airlink 100 bus runs from Waverley Station to near the RHC. Taxi or Uber takes around 20 minutes in normal traffic. During Terminal V, a dedicated shuttle bus service runs from the city centre — check the Terminal V website for the current shuttle departure points.

From Glasgow: Around 50 minutes by car. Regular trains to Edinburgh Waverley (50 minutes), then taxi or shuttle to the venue.

From London: 1 hour 20 minutes by plane (Edinburgh Airport is 5 minutes from the RHC). Train takes around 4.5 hours on the East Coast mainline.

Flying from Europe: Edinburgh Airport handles direct flights from Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, and many other European cities. Terminal V has strong European attendance for this reason.

Accommodation

Terminal V is a non-camping event. You need a place to stay.

Budget options include Edinburgh’s excellent hostels — St Christopher’s Inn, Budget Backpackers, and The Royal Mile Backpackers are all centrally located and reasonably priced in April. For mid-range, Premier Inn and Travelodge both have Edinburgh Airport locations, which are 5 minutes from the RHC and considerably cheaper than city-centre hotels during event weekends. If you’re coming as a group, renting a full flat in Edinburgh’s New Town or Leith can work out significantly cheaper per person than individual hotel rooms.

Book accommodation early — Terminal V weekend gets expensive as it approaches.

Signal at Terminal V

The Royal Highland Centre is a concrete exhibition hall. Mobile signal inside the venue is patchy at best. The multiple rooms and thick walls compound the problem. Travel Ravers’ Bluetooth mesh works well in indoor environments — phones can communicate room to room through crowds.

Pre-load the Edinburgh offline map in Travel Ravers before you travel. The venue map can be pinned as a waypoint for key locations — stage entrances, cloakroom, medical, exits.

Survival Tips

Get to the cloakroom early — Terminal V’s cloakrooms fill up fast. Arrive early and deposit bags before the evening peak. Water points are positioned throughout the venue — use them. Bring HiFi earplugs without exception; indoor events concentrate sound significantly. Edinburgh in April is cold, so bring a layer for the walk between venue and transport at 4am. The venue is cashless, so have your card ready.
